Captain Cook Ocean Classic

Come join us for the second annual Captain Cook Ocean Classic to be held in the calm clear waters of Botany Bay. Take the plunge over a 5km / 2.5km / 1 km & 500 m (for the big and little kids) course in the waters where our event namesake waded ashore and landed 1770.

This year’s 5km course will be sanctioned by Swimming NSW, and will be a qualifying event for the 2021 National Open Water Swimming Championships.

 

 

We’re encouraging less waste by having you use your own favourite swim cap.  Caps available for purchase if you forget.

The 5km swim is a two-lap anti-clockwise direction swim around marker buoys. Athletes will start and finish in the water.

The 2.5km swim is a one-lap anti-clockwise direction swim around marker buoys. Athletes will start and finish in the water.

The 1km swim is a one-lap anti-clockwise direction swim around marker buoys. Athletes will start and finish in the water.

The 500m swim is a one-lap anti-clockwise direction swim around marker buoys. Athletes will start and finish on the shore. This event is purely a participation event and no category places will be awarded.

  • The Male & Female Competitor Categories are as follows:
    • 5km – 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
    • 2.5km – 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
    • 1km – 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
    • 500m – PARTICIPATION EVENT ONLY – NO AWARDS, still timed.
    • Wetsuits (water temp under 24C), Flippers are allowed but will not be included in age group categories.
    • Age as on Race Day
  • Request for withdrawal must be sent via email to our Athlete Services
  • See our Refund & Transfer Policy
  • Mimimum age 5km – 12 on race day.

  • Collection of your registration pack is compulsory for all entrants
  • These can be collected from the Registration Marquee
  • Please check the Event Schedule for registration opening times
  • Junior athletes, please bring your parent or guardian along with you
