Get ready for the 7th annual Husky Half Marathon on Sunday, 20th August 2017. It is sure to be another crowd pleaser – a flat, fast course on the scenic shores of Jervis Bay. The view is nothing short of perfection, you won’t even notice the kilometres tick over!With the half marathon having an option of a two person team, as well as 2km and 5km races, there is a distance for everyone. Pack the family up and make a weekend of it!

Huskisson is on the shores of the spectacular Jervis Bay Marine Park within the Shoalhaven. You’ll find plenty of amazing things to see and do, relax on some of the world’s whitest sands meeting the crystal-blue waters along some of the breathtaking panoramic views.

Getting there

The Event HQ is at White Sands Park, Hawke Street, Huskisson

Directions from Sydney – Approximately 2.5 – 3 hours.

  • Take the Princes Highway past Wollongong to Nowra.
  • 14.5 km south of the Nowra Bridge, take the Jervis Bay turnoff on your left onto Jervis bay Road.
  • Drive for 7.5km and take the Huskisson turnoff on your left onto Huskisson Road.
  • Continue onto Tomerong Street
  • Take a slight right onto Sydney Street
  • Take the second left onto Owen Street, and you’ll find White Sands Park right on the corner by the water!


Directions from Canberra – Approximately 2.5hours 

Please note there are two options using the ‘back way’ from Canberra. Both include some dirt road and should not be attempted in heavy rains or following storms, due to the flooding of low-level crossings.

  • Option one: This route includes approximately five kilometres of dirt. Travel to Bungendore and then Tarago, continuing to follow signs to Nowra, Nerriga, Oallen and then onto Turpentine Road.
  • Option two: This route has about 30km of dirt. Travel directly to Braidwood, turning left at Braidwood road to Nerriga and then following this road for 40kms. Turn right onto Turpentine Road.
  • From Turpentine Road (both options): Follow the signs to Tomerong and Batemans Bay.
  • Turn right at the Princes Highway, then turn left to St Georges Basin and Tomerong after about two kilometres.
  • After about 200m, turn left to Tomerong.
  • At Tomerong, turn right to Huskisson.
  • Turn left and then right into Huskisson Road.
  • Continue onto Tomerong Street
  • Take a slight right onto Sydney Street
  • Take the second left onto Owen Street and you’ll find White Sands Park right on the corner by the water!

From Batemans Bay

  • From Batemans Bay, take the Princes Highway to Ulladulla and continue north towards Nowra.
  • 3.8 km north of the Bewong rest area, take the Tomerong/Jervis Bay turnoff to your right onto Island Point Rd.
  • Drive straight through all of the roundabouts until you reach the shops at Vincentia, then turn left at that roundabout onto Elizabeth Drive, heading towards Huskisson.
  • Drive over the bridge and take your third right onto Hawken Road.
  • Turn right onto Pine Forest Road.
  • Turn left onto Jervis Bay Road.
  • Drive for 7.5 km and turn left onto Huskisson Road.
  • Continue onto Tomerong Street.
  • Take a slight right onto Sydney Street.
  • Take the second left onto Owen Street, you’ll find White Sands Park right on the corner by the water!

Road Closures

On 20th August, 2017, Huskisson host the 2017 Huskisson Running Festival organised by Elite Energy and supported by Shoalhaven City Council, NSW Police, Athletics Australia, Local Businesses and many “Not-for-Profit” Community Groups.

The following information is designed to minimise the impact this event has on residents.

Attached are road closure notifications outlining the road closures and effected times that will be in place on this day.

Also attached are a list of guidelines that residents and guests will be required to follow if they wish to use any of the closed roads.

Please ensure that anyone travelling on the closed roads follows the guidelines listed below.

NOTE: Failure to follow these guidelines may result in details being given to police to be followed up after the event.

When travelling on Closed Roads, all drivers MUST:

  1. Remember that runners have right of way on the closed roads at all times.
  2. All roads will have a speed limit no greater than 60 Km/hr.
  3. Obey all speed reductions and travel at the reduced speed.
  4. Vehicles must not overtake runners unless it is entirely safe to do so.
  5. When it is safe to overtake, the driver must ensure that there are no oncoming runners or vehicles on the opposite side of the road.

Vehicles will be stopped by Authorised Traffic Controllers when attempting to enter Closed Roads.

Drivers should:

  1. Inform Traffic Controllers of where they intend to travel.
  2. Use an alternative route if one is provided by a Volunteer Marshal or Authorised Traffic Controller.
  3. Follow all direction provided to them by an Authorised Traffic Controller.
  4. Expect delays, Traffic Controllers will allow vehicles to enter the road closures when it is deemed safe to do so.

NOTE: Any vehicle identified as not obeying these guidelines will be reported to police for further action to be taken.


Remember – The 3 Ps: Planning, Patience & Politeness will assist in a safe and happy day for all athletes, visitors, volunteers, and the public.

The running of the sixth annual Huskisson Running Festival by Elite Energy Pty Ltd will take place on Sunday 20th August 2017 along the Huskisson – Vincentia cycleway / footpath and some roads.

Some roads and lane closures will be required and they include:

  1. Huskisson – Road closure of:
  • Bowen St (from Hawke St to Fegen St),
  • Fegen St (from Bowen St to Nowra St),
  • Nowra St (from Fegen St to Beach St) and

Beach St for approximately 15 minutes at 8:00am, 10:00am & 11:00am for the start of each of the three races. See detailed map below.
