Day Two is the ‘Ride for Robbie’ Graded Scratch Race.
This event, will see hundreds of road riders take part in a ‘graded scratch race’ from Nowra to Sassafras in honour of Nowra’s own champion rider Robbie Williams who tragically passed away on a ride in Canberra in 2012 after suffering a fatal cardiac arrhythmia.
A former Shoalhaven Sports Star of the year, multi award winner and champion racer Williams’ death sent shockwaves through the cycling community and this ride is a chance to honour and ensure his rich legacy will live on.
“The ‘Ride for Robbie’ is a great chance to celebrate the life of Robbie and all he achieved in his 27 years of life,” said Mr Emerton.
“I knew Robbie personally and it was definitely a huge blow for the community as a whole and this is just a small gesture to honour a larger than life personality.”
Riders taking part in the Cycling NSW TTT must register for a Cycling Australia day license while riders wishing to take part in ‘Ride for Robbie’ must be registered with Cycling Australia and/or hold an annual Triathlon Australia registration.
