Five members of the Elite Energy team – Ally, Brittany, Jodie, Cindy and Pat – are participating in the upcoming ‘Ride To Conquer Cancer‘ on the weekend of October 10 and 11, 2015.
The ride will see them tackle 200km all for charity in the hope of raising money for the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, which integrates clinical care, research and education creating opportunities for innovative discoveries, compassionate holistic care and better outcomes for patients.
For some members, it involves a bit more training than usual, but for others, it is a life changing event. A few members are pushing themselves well beyond their comfort zone, and are unveiling a new and different aspect of themselves.
“Six months ago, if you had asked me about ‘knicks’ and ‘PB’s and ‘Wattage’, I would have had no idea what you were talking about! Knicks would have meant thieving, PB’s would have meant Peanut Butters, and Wattage would be purely an electrical term” said Jodie, who has had amazing increases in her fitness and has developed a love for cycling.
As the baby of the team, Brittany Emerton has spent a lot of time under the athletic shadow of her father, Mark “Emo” Emerton. However, this is her time to shine, and shine she will!
This has been a great team bonding exercise, with the girls all heading off to the Watts Factory together to train on the stationary trainers, cheering each other on when each have completed challenges.
We are getting close to our goal, but with only 4 weeks to go, we need a nudge to get us across the line! So if you want to show your support to this fantastic and very worthy cause, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 44237775 during 9am – 5pm for details on how to donate.
