Overview

Do you feel that all that running is getting you nowhere? You just aren’t reaching your goals? Some days do you just feel like giving up? Do you ever feel it’s just not worth it all? Well, we are giving you the opportunity to become a real L.O.S.E.R.. You can become a L.O.S.E.R. as an individual or as a team with your friends or work colleagues. We’re launching the inaugural L.O.S.E.R. event at Echo Bend campsite, Victoria.

What is a L.O.S.E.R.?

L.O.S.E.R. stands for the Last One Standing Endurance Race.

How it Works

The Echo Bend course will utilise a 6.5 km loop where runners will run/walk/shuffle, 1 lap every hour on the hour (ie if you take 35 min to run 6.5 km, you will get 25 min rest and recovery).
You will have the option to enter 3 distances – 50 km (ish), 100 km (ish) & 100 miles (ish)
You can enter as a team or as an individual (see team categories information below)

Individual Entries

Each 10 year age group will have a first, second and third place getter over each distance.

We will endeavour to have support crew tents (especially for the 100km and 160 km races) lined along the start, finish line corrals to create an atmosphere and also support for this long journey

Teams

If the L.O.S.E.R. seems a little bit daunting as a solo activity, why not join the fun as a team.  You can enter as a men’s, women’s or mixed team. All teams, all distances have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 & everyone on the team gets a shirt.

The inaugural L.O.S.E.R. event will be incorporated in the Super Trail Mitchell River weekend festival. Visit the website for more information.

Safety

From sunset to sunrise you MUST be wearing a headlamp to show you the way, and to look out for each other’s safety
You will also be required to wear the appropriate clothing to stay, warm, dry, comfortable and healthy during the event
Nutrition – there will be NO nutrition on the course, and you (and your team or support crew) will be able to assist at the END of each lap, once you have passed the finish line

On The Day

To ensure runners don’t get clogged on the trail, we will do a rolling start. All runners will be called to the start line approx 3 min prior to the race start. Your time will not start until you cross the start mat, so don’t stress if you seem to be at the back and concerned about an inaccurate time.

The timing mats will pick up each of your laps and project this information on to a big screen at the start/finish hub. So don’t worry if you lose count – we’ll have this info available to you and your team throughout the race.

Cut off times 59 min 59 sec per lap.

Start line and Finish line

The race site will be set with a start and finish line next to each other. This way you will have plenty of opportunities to start with hindering slower finishers (or from other races) and vise-versa (you can finish without having starters waiting to start their event in the next hour)
We will endeavour to have support crew tents (especially for the 100km and 160 km races) lined along the start, finish line to create an atmosphere and also support for this looooong journey

Last One Standing Endurance Race

Inspired by some of the most iconic and crazy ultra and trail run events globally, our new concept, L.O.S.E.R. will test every runner, with something completely new.

Over a `6km loop, our bravest runners will attempt one of 4 race distances.

  1. 25km – 4 laps
  2. 50km – 8 laps
  3. 100 km – 16 laps
  4. 160km – 24 laps

Event Information

Rewards

As most of you will be L.O.S.E.R.s, we want to recognize this appropriately. Once you (or your team) have run/walked as far as you can or want to,or you have finished your event it’s time to collect your L.O.S.E.R. Wooden Spoon. The overall place-getters in each 10-year age category (male & female) and each team (all male, all female and mixed) will be awarded a Gold, Silver and Bronze Wooden Spoon at a presentation on completion of the overall event.
The Winner of each category will be determined by the fastest combined times of all your laps, and you must complete all laps for your distance event
50 km = 8 laps (8 hours)
100 km = 16 laps (16 hours)
100 miles (160 km) = 24 laps (24 hours)

Start line

All runners will be called to the start line approx 3 min prior to the race start. Your time will not start until you cross the start mat (what we call a rolling start). So don’t stress if you seem to be at the back and concerned about an inaccurate time.

Finish line

The finish line will be approx 50 m behind the Start line. This will allow runners to line up prior to their race start without affecting those runners still finishing and (hopefully) ready for their next race.

Live Timing

Our amazing timers will have live timing for you to track yourself, and your team and compare how you are going during the race.

Refuel Stations

We ask that you all carry your own nutrition and hydration for the entire event. Although a 7 km (ish) loop is not too far, it all starts to add up after doing many laps.

What You Get

At registration, you will proudly be recognized as a L.O.S.E.R. with a piece of L.O.S.E.R. merchandise. You will be given a Race Bib and a welcome with a smile.

Apart from the glory of being the first Aussies to try out this crazy new format – you get the wooden spoon. Yep – we know – cool hey?!

Who needs more bling when you can have this handy tool. Great for your next camping trip to stir the pot.

100km & 160km L.O.S.E.R.s will receive a merch hoodie.

The overall place-getters in each 10-year age category (male & female) and each team (all male, all female and mixed) will be awarded a Gold, Silver and Bronze Wooden Spoon at a presentation on completion of the overall event.

The Winner of each category will be determined by the fastest combined times of all your laps, and you must complete all laps for your distance event.
