A day of leg-burning action!
The very best riders from NSW, Australia and abroad will fight it out in one of the most iconic bike races in Australia. This will be a race to remember!
Make the most of the day by bringing all the family members. There is plenty of space along the course to get close to the action and see the riders flash by. The best experience is right next to the finish-line in the prestigious VIP area. The area is dedicated space for the best place to view of the race and is where you can relax for the day eating and drinking with some of your best friends or perhaps work mates.
This event is part of the Shimano National Crit Series. As part of the series, elite riders earn points towards becoming the Sprint King or Queen, with even more cash up for grabs.
|Crit Racing 101
A criterium, or the more commonly known name “crit”, is a bike race made up of multiple laps around a short course (Up to about 3km). Races can be based on time (60 minutes plus three laps a common format) or total number of laps.
Flatter courses tend to suit teams with strong sprinters, but breaks can often form and get away from the main bunch. Strong time trial riders can ride away and be out of sight and a course with a small climb can offer opportunities for strong climbers to get away and take the win.
Crit racing is the most spectator friendly form of road racing with the riders riding past often and spectators can get up close to see, hear and feel the action.
In Australia, crit races dominate the summer racing scene with many clubs offering crit racing to their members and other Cycling Australia members.
