What is the MTB 101 / 50 & 25?
After lots of chatting to mountain bikers, our company formed a committee to produce this event. We have specialized in the sport of triathlon for many years and thought we could offer our skills to the exciting and growing mountain bike scene. Although mountain biking is a great social activity, when we really participate at the level we love, it becomes an individual sport, so if we can create a weekend of activities for ALL the family, and for ALL abilities, it makes it more enjoyable, and we hope that this weekend will give you that enjoyment and pleasure. The venue for this event is quite unique in that it is based around the Nowra Moto X Track. With the guidance of our local mountain bikers, we feel that the 1.5 km track will give riders (and spectators) a little bit of excitement and enable riders the opportunity to "show off", "over take" and "show their skills". After this 1.5 km, riders will head into bush for an amazing, achievable, challenging course of mainly winding single track (see aerial photos in Venue Info).
The track for ALL events on the Sunday (101 / 50 / 25) consists of a 25km loop on Moto-X Enduro tracks. Race Day you will line up across the Moto-X track, start you engines, and complete approx 1km of the track before heading off into the bush. The next extremely well marked 24 km is mostly single track with sweet bermed corners. There are plenty of passing opportunities throughout the track so everyone can ride comfortably at their own pace or duel it out with fellow competitors.
While there are some small climbs (nothing major) and some great "Menai" style rocky garden sections, the technical aspects of this course, make for an exciting, enjoyable and challenging course. Don't worry if you are not technically confident or are feeling a bit tired there will be B lines around the tougher sections, to ease the burden. The soil type ranges from sandstone through to lovely loamy dirt sections. Tyres such as MAXXIS Crossmarks will be just the shot!
All riders whether at the elite level or weekend warrior will enjoy this hidden escape on the beautiful south coast.
