Course Descriptions:
Swim
750m ocean swim Forster Beach,
Bike
The bike leg is three laps of a 6.6km course (total approx. 20km) that
will take competitors from the transition area in North St, right onto
West St and then left onto Head St. The competitors continue along Head
St until they turn right onto Hadley St, then left onto Lincoln St, right onto Court St and right Palmer St and then up to and right again onto Hadley St and then left onto and continuing along Head
St until they reach the reach the Macintosh St intersection at which point
they will turn left onto Macintosh St. Competitors will then travel south
on Macintosh St until they reach the turnaround point just north of
the Macintosh St / Mark St roundabout. At that point they will do a
U turn and head north back up Macintosh St. At the Macintosh St / Head
St intersection competitors will turn left onto Head St and continue up
to the turnaround point just west of the Head St / Beach St roundabout.
At this point competitors will complete another U turn and head west along
Head St past the Head St / West St intersection for the completion of the
first lap of three. The following two laps are as per the first lap.
On completion the their third lap, competitors will turn left off Head
St onto West St and then left onto North St for return to the transition
area. At this point competitors will dismount from their bikes, stow their
bikes and commence the run leg.
Run
The run leg will be one lap of a 5km course and will commence at the transition
area from where the competitors will head north along the path that runs
around the front of the Headland and past the Coastal Patrol HQ. From here
competitors will run along the footpath/edge of the Marina Rd, until they
reach the reserve at the western end of Marina Rd. From here competitors
run onto the footpath and then onto the bridge footpath heading towards
Tuncurry. At the Tuncurry end of the bridge, competitors follow the path
around to the right onto John Wright Park where they will do a U turn and
return, along the same route, back to the transition area at Main Beach
Forster. From here competitors run southeast along North St, at the end
of which they will run onto and along the bush track and walking path that
head towards Bennett Head Reserve until they reach the turnaround point
where they turnaround and head back. As competitors near the bush track,
they will veer left, run towards and then along the footpath on the eastern
edge of Head St, turning right up the path at the Head St / Macintosh St
intersection then left onto North St. On North St, competitors will run
towards and then up the finish Shute and through the finish arch to complete
the event.
