Getting there

This year the start line for all events is at Elizabeth Parade, Forster Keys and the finish line is at Forster Main Beach, Beach Street, Forster.

All athletes (except MINIMAN athletes) will have what is called a “split transition”. This means that they will swim at Forster Keys, get on their bikes, and then ride to a second transition (T2) at Main Beach. They will get off their bikes and start their run at Main Beach. They will finish their run at the main finish arch at Main Beach.

This makes for an exciting finish, at the Challenge finish line, but it does have some logistics that need to be explained.

PARKING – The BEST place to park for all supporters is up on Cape Hawke Drive – even though it means that you have an 800m walk to the start, it means that you have an easy route out of the area to get to Main Beach. Please view our parking map here.

CHALLENGE SUPPORTERS – As the Half Challenge race is starting at 6.15am, supporters might want to leave Forster Keys as soon as they have watched their swimmer come out of the water, to avoid road closures and traffic build up once the sprint race competitors get on their bike at approximately 7.15am. Head to Forster Main Beach and settle in by the ocean to wait for your competitor to come in to Transition 2 (T2).

SPRINT SUPPORTERS – Once the sprint athletes get out of the water, they will get on their bikes and head along King George Parade and turn right at the roundabout to head south for 7km before they turn around and head north along the Lakes Way into town. This is a window of opportunity to get into town before the bikes are on the lakes way to the north of the roundabout. If you miss this window, you will be directed straight ahead through the roundabout off King George Parade to go up Cape Hawke Drive and on to the Southern Parkway to get into town.

ENFORCER SUPPORTERS – The enforcers get out of the water and head out along King George Parade and turn right at the roundabout onto the Lakes Way, where they go out to a turnaround point 5km south before turning around and heading back into town. There will be no opportunity for supporters to drive along The Lakes Way, all supporters will have to drive along Cape Hawke Drive, then onto The Southern Parkway into town.

ENTICER SUPPORTERS – enticer riders will come out of the water and then get on their bikes to ride along King George Parade and will turn RIGHT onto the Lakes Way, make a turn at Sweet Pea Road then ride into town to transition 2 at Main Beach Forster. Supporters will have to either follow the last enticer riders along the Lakes Way into town, or drive into town via Cape Hawke Drive and The Southern Parkway. Enticer supporters will most likely not be able to see them transition at Main Beach unless they don’t watch them exit the water at Transition 1 at Forster Keys.
